The Rag Trader opened in 2016 is a new bar in the city centre with a classic Dublin theme. A cosy homely styled bar located at the back entrance to Dublin’s popular bar Dakota. This classic styled bar captures the rag trader era from the moment you enter the venue.
History of The Rag Trader
The theme of the venue is base around the history of its surrounding area, Drury Street. South William Street and Drury Street use to be known as a rag trade district, hence the name The Rag Trader. Drury street was originally home to warehouses that distributed clothes and fabrics, the Rag Trader building being one of them. This vintage styled bar takes you on cultural journey through Irish history while enjoying some good company, great food and luxurious whiskey.

The Rag Trader has a wide range of whiskey from around the world with over 40 Whiskeys on sight. Bulleit and Woodford Reserve are some of the overseas whiskey on offer, while Paddy and Bushmills are 2 of the many Irish whiskey’s supplied. With such a variety of whiskey and a venue steeped in Irish culture The Rag Trader is the perfect spot of an Irish whisjey trail.

Pairing Irish Whiskey and Irish Seafood is a delicate art, lucky our team are experts and were up for the challenge. The Rag Trader are lucky to have a passionate chef who loves seafood, Martin recommended the freshest of catch from our temperate Irish waters, Dublin Bay Scampi (Dublin Bay Prawns) Clogherhead Crab Claws and of course Wild Atlantic Salmon.
